3M™ Double Coated Tape 9740

  • Delivers excellent continuous performance across broad temperature range
  • Acrylic adhesive bonds well to most substrates including most low surface energy plastics
  • Thin polyester film carrier adds dimensional stability and improved handling during diecutting
  • Provides superior bonding and conformability to irregular and flat surfaces
  • Designed where higher temperature, shear and plasticizer resistance is required
  • Performance grade splicing tape for corrugators and other high temperature splicing applications

3M Double Coated Tape 9740 provides a combination of high initial adhesion and good shear holding power to a wide variety of materials, including many plastics and foams. This tape offers excellent continuous performance across a broad range of temperatures. The thin polyester carrier adds dimensional stability and improved handling during slitting and diecutting operations.

Tape Bonds a Wide Variety of Surfaces

The robust 55 lb. densified kraft paper liner on 3M Double Coated Tape 9740 (PDF, 338.8 Kb) improves handling, protects against humidity and is ideal for diecutting, automated dispensers and laminating applications. Considered a razorthin alternative to glue, screws and rivets, double coated tape is often used for foam and gasket attachment in general industrial applications.

Recommended Applications

  • Attachment to irregular surfaces
  • Bonding to plastics and metal extrusions
  • Applications where adhesion to low surface energy substrates is needed
  • Bonding of decorative trim
  • High speed flying splices where heat resistance is required
