About Hook and Loop
Hook and loop is the name given to the fastening system which uses two sides of material, a hook side and a loop side. The hook is the rough, scratchy side and the loop is the soft, fuzzy side. When brought together, the sides of the hook and loop fabric attach to one another and create a strong bond that can still be pulled apart when needed at various levels of tension.
Hook and loop is widely known as VELCRO® Brand fabric. The terms “hook and loop” is the generic name for VELCRO® Brand-type materials. Hook and Loop fabric material mainly comes in two types: Sew on and adhesive backed )or peel and stick). Sew on refers to the material that is primarily used in sewing applications. The adhesive backed (peel and stick) refers to the hook and loop material that has a rubber or acrylic adhesive backing lined with a release liner (paper or film backing) so it “sticks” to a surface when you remove the paper backing. The Tape Lab also offers Hook and Loop fastening systems from well known brands like 3M™ Scotchmate™ Reclosable Fasteners, and 3M™ Dual Lock™ Reclosable Fasteners.
